Alpha Gotha 12: a closer look at a one-room heating and cooling kit
The kit contents, controls and room-planning questions that matter more than choosing the bigger model by default.
Checked 7 October 2026. Specification-led buying guide. Not a hands-on review.
A room that overheats in summer can also be the room nobody wants to work in during winter. A reversible wall split is worth investigating when both problems affect the same space. Our Alpha Gotha 12 listing is a single-room equipment kit, not an installed-price promise.
What the Gotha 12 actually is
The matching Immergas manufacturer page identifies indoor unit 3.035041 and outdoor unit 3.035042, with nominal cooling of 3.52 kW and heating of 3.81 kW. It lists inverter operation and CLIMAsmart connectivity. These are rated product specifications, not a prediction of your electricity bill or a guarantee for a particular room. Manufacturer specification.
Look beyond the capacity badge
A bigger number is not a substitute for a room assessment. Tell the installer about glazing, sun exposure, ceiling height, occupancy and whether heating or cooling is the main priority. A home office used throughout the day has a different pattern from a guest bedroom used occasionally. Ask how the proposed unit matches that pattern rather than treating floor area as the whole calculation.
What to put on the quotation
Our current pack lists the indoor and outdoor units, remote, Wi-Fi kit and outdoor anti-vibration supports. The condensate kit is an optional extra. Confirm the final bill of materials before ordering: a product box is not the pipe route, electrical work, drain, commissioning or making good.
- Agree the indoor position, including where the air will travel.
- Identify the outdoor position and access for future servicing.
- Ask whether condensate can drain by gravity or needs another solution.
- Get the equipment and installation scopes separately itemised.
Our take
Gotha 12 belongs on an Alpha-first shortlist where a fitted one-room system makes sense. It is not automatically the right choice over Gotha 9. If several rooms need attention, compare a multi-room design before buying separate kits. Alpha is our preferred manufacturer, but room requirements come first.
