If one room is too cold in winter and too warm in summer, a wall-mounted unit that heats and cools can be a neat fix. The Alpha Gotha 9 is a 2.6 kW single split air conditioning kit for one room. This guide explains what it is, what's included, and how to get it fitted.

What it is

A single split has one indoor unit on the wall and one outdoor unit, joined by pipework. The Gotha 9 is for one room: a bedroom, a study, a small lounge. It is not a whole-house heating system. For that, ask us about heat pumps.

Our listing says it heats and cools one room, and is sold as equipment only. Product page: Alpha Gotha 9 2.6 kW single split

What Alpha says about the Gotha range

From Alpha's own Gotha page (fetched 29 September 2026):

  • It is an air-to-air heat pump that provides heating and cooling.
  • An air ioniser is included as standard. Alpha says it is designed to help reduce airborne particles such as dust, pollen and smoke.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi, for control through Alpha's CLIMAsmart app, is included as standard.
  • An infrared remote control, a backlit display, a silent operating mode and inverter technology are listed.
  • It uses R32 refrigerant.

Check Alpha’s datasheet for the exact model for output, sound and efficiency before you buy.

Choosing the right size

The right unit depends on the room: its size, ceiling height, windows, insulation and how you use it. A unit that is too small struggles. One that is too large costs more than it needs to. Instead of guessing, we size from your room sizes and photos.

If a larger room needs the next size up, see also the Alpha Gotha 12 3.5 kW single split.

Two ways to buy

Supply only. UK-wide. Made to order, so we show the current lead time on the product page and confirm your date in writing once you've paid. Equipment only. Because a split system contains refrigerant, it has to be connected and commissioned by an F-Gas registered engineer, so supply-only is for people who already have one.

Supplied and fitted by us. We fit anywhere in the UK, and travel is included. We're F-Gas certified, Refcom REF1023722.

Send us photos, a short video walk-round and your room sizes, and we'll come back with a quote. Travel is included, anywhere in the UK. If what we find on the day doesn't match your photos, we'll agree any change with you before we start, and you can cancel instead.

What to send us

  • A photo of the wall where you'd like the indoor unit, taken from across the room.
  • The room's length, width and ceiling height.
  • A photo of where the outdoor unit would go, and one wider shot showing access.
  • Photos of the likely pipe route between the two, including any loft or wall that pipework has to cross.
  • A short video walk-round of the room and outside.

VAT

Heat pumps, including air conditioning that heats as well as cools, are 0% VAT until 31 March 2027 when we supply and fit them in your home. Solar panels and batteries fitted in your home are 0% too. Supply-only kit and portable units are 20% VAT.
