Midea PortaSplit: the window check comes before the buy button
A portable split has an outdoor section. Check the opening, support, handling and operating modes before choosing one.

PortaSplit is not simply a tower fan with a more powerful motor. It is a portable split air conditioner with an outdoor section, and that changes the practical questions you need to ask before it arrives.
The useful manufacturer facts
Midea's UK page specifies 12,000 BTU/h or 3.5 kW cooling, heating, dehumidification and ventilation modes, with A++ cooling and A+ heating labels. It advertises 39 dB(A) in silent mode. That noise figure is mode-specific, not a promise for every operating condition. Midea's UK product information.
Check the actual opening
Before ordering, photograph the window from inside and outside and compare the opening with Midea's setup instructions. Identify a suitable place for the outdoor section and the correct support accessory. A photograph of a different window style is not evidence that your installation will work. If you rent, check permission for the proposed arrangement.
Think about everyday use too: can the window remain appropriately secured, can the route avoid trip hazards, and is the equipment manageable if it must be moved? “Portable” should not be read as “weightless” or “suitable on any ledge”.
Read the setup instructions, not just the headline
Midea markets the system as not requiring professional installation. Follow its instructions for the sealed product and approved supports; do not improvise refrigerant work or a mounting solution. Read the user manual before purchase.
Compare the right alternatives
If you cannot accommodate the outdoor section, investigate a different product route rather than forcing the fit. If the room needs permanent daily comfort and installation is possible, obtain a fitted split quotation too. Compare total setup, convenience and your actual pattern of use. We list PortaSplit as an equipment option; availability and delivery are confirmed through the product's ordering process, not promised by this article.
