Air Convenience: spares and troubleshooting help
Air Convenience: sort your heating & cooling faster
Air Convenience is where to start if a heat pump or air conditioning unit isn't working as it should. Pick the symptom below for the common causes and a sensible next step. If you'd like help finding a part, email us your model number.
What's the problem?
Pick what's happening and we'll tell you the likely cause and what to do next.
Not cooling or heating properly
Likely cause: a blocked filter, low refrigerant charge, a frozen coil, or (on heat pumps) low system flow.
What to do: switch the unit off and clean the filters (see your manual). If it still isn't right, get an F-Gas registered engineer to look at it. Low refrigerant means a leak, and a leak needs finding, not topping up.
Making a noise or vibrating
Likely cause: a loose outdoor unit bracket, worn anti-vibration mounts, or a fan/compressor bearing on its way out.
What to do: if you can see the bracket from the ground, check it looks secure. Grinding or knocking that carries on usually means a part needs replacing, so switch the unit off and ask an engineer.
Leaking or dripping water
Likely cause: a blocked or failed condensate drain, or a condensate pump that has stopped.
What to do: a blocked drain is often a simple clean-out. A failed pump needs replacing. Email us your model number and we'll find the right condensate pump.
Remote or controls not working
Likely cause: dead batteries, a worn-out original remote, or (rarer) a receiver/PCB fault.
What to do: new batteries first. If the remote itself has failed, tell us the model and we'll say whether we can supply a replacement. A circuit board fault needs the model-number lookup below.
Musty or bad smell
Likely cause: a dirty coil or a build-up inside the indoor unit, common if it hasn't been serviced in a while.
What to do: a coil clean sorts this in most cases. Persistent or heavy cases may need a professional deep-clean.
Showing an error code
Likely cause: every manufacturer uses its own fault codes, so the meaning depends on the make and model.
What to do: your manual lists the codes. Or email us the code and your model number and we'll do our best to help.
Just need a routine service
What keeps a system running properly: a clean filter, a clean coil and, on heat pumps, a protected primary circuit. Split systems hold refrigerant, so servicing beyond the filters needs an F-Gas registered engineer.
What to do: email us your model and we'll confirm exactly what your system needs and the cost.
Full model-number lookup
For anything specific to your exact unit, such as a PCB, sensor, fan motor or a part not listed above, this is the fastest route:
- Find the model number on the data plate on your unit.
- Email it to us with a photo of the data plate and a description of the fault (or the error code)
- We'll tell you whether we can supply the part and what the lead time is.

What Air Convenience covers
- Spares for air conditioning and heat pumps, such as remotes, filters, condensate pumps, circuit boards, fan motors and sensors. Availability depends on the make and model, so ask first.
Not sure if it's worth repairing?
Tell us the make, the model and what's wrong, and we'll give you a straight answer on whether to repair or replace.
